With the advent of social media and improved front cameras on your cellphones, several ‘video makers’ have popped up, who use humor, more often than not, to get their messages across to the millions watching. In the last few years or so, one man has shown exactly why good content always trumps cheap and sell-able material, and that man is Junaid Akram.
The ‘Khalli Karao’ guy was doing a very stable job in Dubai, but his passion and “purpose of life” brought him back to Pakistan. He has been uploading videos on different subjects that require attention of the Pakistani public ever since, but has now delved into a different genre of entertainment. With these projects having been in the works for a long time, and they have culminated into a rap song and a very provocative video, both of which carry very important and critical subjects for the Pakistani society. Here is his song that he created in collaboration with Hashim Ishaq, the up and coming musician and rapper from Karachi.

This wasn’t the end of it. Just a day ago, Junaid Akram posted a short film on his Facebook page, which was titled ‘Mera Kiya Qasur Hai’, which aimed to highlight a very important subject that has been the burning topic of a number of incidents in the recent past, most notably the Mashal Khan murder case, who was alleged to have posted blasphemous content up on social media. The video captures a similar story line, but also has the satirical genius of Junaid Akram written all over it. Brilliantly shot and edited, the video is worth spending seven and a half minutes on.

All power to Junaid Akram for coming up with new ways of entertaining his mammoth audience on social media, and we are glad to suspect that this won’t be the end of it either!
